Bulky Item Service Guidelines

Bulky Item Service Guidelines – Block House MUD

  • Bulky service is provided for items that will not fit into regularly serviced carts or in any additional bags, bundles, or containers.  These bulky items must still be processed through a regular, rear load trash truck which means that items that are wider than the entry to compactor plate or have been found to cause damage to the mechanisms of the truck cannot be accepted.  This is why there are size limits and why some items cannot be taken as bulky service and require a call to remove construction debris.

  • When residents call Texas Disposal Systems at 512-421-1340 to schedule a bulky removal, multiple questions will be asked regarding the type, size, and weight of the material to be removed.  This is so we can make sure our drivers know that they may have to make and additional trip to complete services or provide another truck as well as to make sure no harmful items or weight are included for bulky service.

  • Make sure that all items for bulky service are positioned together at curbside.  Drivers should not be removing personal items from private property and will only take items that are listed for bulky removal.

  • All items must be curbside by 7am on the day of service. If items are not available at the time of scheduled service, charges will still apply and/or the bulky service will count toward contracted allowances.  One bulky service is for 3 cubic yards.

Example of a Cubic Yard:

  • 1 cubic yard is 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet
  • 3 cubic yard is 9 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet

Sample List for what equals 3 cubic yards:

  • 21 – 30 gallon trash bags or lawn/leaf bags or bundles.  Note: Bundles must be securely tied with twine, rope or duct tape, no longer than 4 feet in length, and no heavier than 40 lbs per bundle.
  • Recliner or loveseat. Customer is able to put a couple of light weight boxes on the recliner or loveseat.
  • Twin or full size mattress and box spring or two mattresses without a box spring.
  • A single queen or king mattress without a box spring.
  • Small water heater or softener, drained with salt removed (less than 60 gal).
  • Wood planks (such as privacy fence), MUST be free of nails.
    • The size of 1 piece of wood is 1 inch thick, 2 inches wide and 6 feet long.
    • The customer can leave the length, they do not have to bundle.
    • Advise the customer to stack, 5 boards per stack, up to 12 stack, 50 planks total per single bulky service.
    • Two pallets, (Pallets may be broken down. See specifications for wood planks above.).  Additional pallets needs to be approved before scheduled.

Sample List for what equals 6 cubic yards (This would equal 2 bulky services):

  • Full size couch or sleeper sofa. Customer may put a couple of light weight boxes on the recliner or loveseat.
  • Queen or King Mattress and box spring or two mattresses without box spring.
